Inter Miami is set to witness a massive financial jump from next season after the club revealed Lionel Messi would join the Major League Soccer club next season.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner ended his two-year stint with Paris Saint-Germain but not without the Parisians gaining financially in his time at the French champions.

PSG experienced their jersey sales skyrocket with the arrival of Messi, as it is recorded that the Ligue 1 champions generated over $130M in 2022, selling only the Argentine jerseys.

The sales made by the Ligue 1 club is way above what the highest-earning MLS club generated last year, as Los Angeles FC, who occupies that rank, only yielded $116M in revenue.

Messi was tempted to Major League Soccer side Inter Miami for various reasons, including lifestyle and a deal with big brands such as Apple and Adidas that extends beyond football.

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi revealed he was initially excited about returning to Barcelona but had to turn down the move to Camp Nou due to the club’s dire financial situation, BBC reports.

The 35-year-old superstar revealed he did not want to be responsible for the Catalan club forcing players to reduce their salaries or sold to finance their bid to sign him this summer.

Barcelona, alongside Saudi club Al Hilal, were heavy favourites to sign Messi this summer but the 2022 World Cup winner decided to join MLS side Inter Miami.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Argentina legend, Lionel Messi will join American side Inter Miami after his exit from French champions Paris St-Germain.

The former Barcelona forward is set to reject a more lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal. The Miami deal includes collaboration with brands like Adidas and Apple.

Messi, 35, won the Ballon d'Or award for the world's best player seven times and is expected to win it later this year after World Cup success.
