'Proud' Osimhen Pens Heartwarming Message to Napoli Fans and Coaches after Ending Season in Style

Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen says being crowned Italian champion remains one of the happiest days in his life.

The Napoli forward ended the season in style, netting his 26th goal of the campaign in the 2-0 win over Sampdoria at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Osimhen finished the 2022/23 Serie A season as the top scorer in the league and became the first African to win the golden boot in Italy.

According to Osimhen, he is proud of his achievements with Napoli but struggled to find words to describe his feelings.

"This is one of the happiest moments of my life, we are the SCUDETTO CHAMPIONS! This achievement fills me with pride and joy, and we couldn't have done it without the unwavering support of our coaches, and the incredible Napoli fans. This victory belongs to all of us!" he wrote on Twitter.

Osimhen went on to thank fans of the club for sticking behind the team during the hard times during the course of the season.

He admitted the journey to Serie A victory had not always been smooth sailing, but the ups and downs had shaped the team into the champions they became.

"We turned every moment of adversity, setbacks, and tough defeats to more motivation, hunger and determination to keep fighting hard. The fans lifted us up, kept encouraging us, and reminding us of the greatness we were capable of achieving," he added.

The 25-year-old expressed his pride as a Nigerian and at being the first African to win the Scudetto and golden boot in the same season.

"This gives me so much joy and I am incredibly humbled to have achieved these. To my fans worldwide, I see you all! The support, the motivations and the love - I am super grateful. You all have always honoured me and I am proud to be a Nigerian. Thank you for the unforgettable journey. God is the greatest," he concluded.

Osimhen sets Serie A record

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Nigerian football star, Victor Osimhen has become the first African to win the prestigious Serie A Golden Boot award.

He secured the coeveted prize after an incredible 2022/23 season with Napoli, that saw him notch an eyewatering 26 goals in the Italian top flight league.

According to Goal, the Napoli attacker saw off stiff competition from Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez to land the prestigious accolade in the Serie A.
