Sergio Ramos has penned a heartfelt message to former Real Madrid teammate, Karim Benzema, who is leaving Los Blancos after 14 trophy-laden years.
Benzema, who had earlier dismissed reports linking him away from the club, revealed his decision to quit Madrid for pastures anew on Sunday, much to the surprise of coach Carlo Ancelotti.
In his final game as a Madrid player, the ex-France international rescued a point for the White Angels as he scored from the spot against Athletic Bilbao, which was his 354th and last strike in the all-white jersey, talkSPORT reports.
At age 35, Benzema leaves the Spanish capital as the reigning Ballon d'Or holder, while boasting 25 titles during his association with Real.
He is expected to follow in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo by inking a lucrative deal in the Middle East, with Saudi champions Al-Ittihad in pole position to acquire his services, per the Guardian.
Ahead of his anticipated move, former teammate Ramos, who is departing Paris Saint-Germain after two years, wished him well.
“Karino, I wish you the best in your new stage. Much quality, Nueve. Hugs, brother,” Ramos wrote, as quoted by Daily Post.
Meanwhile, Ramos and Benzema could link up in Saudi Arabia, with a number of clubs from the oil-rich nation circling around the Spanish defender, who is in the twilight of his career.
