Novak Djokovic is a serial winner and a household name in tennis, but the Serbian was still starstruck when he met Lionel Messi and Neymar recently.

According to Goal, Djokovic revealed that it was his first time meeting both Messi and Neymar, whom he described as 'great champions' following their achievements in football.

“It was my first time meeting them in person – they are great champions, it was a pleasure and an honour to meet them, especially Messi, a player who left an extraordinary mark in the history of football.”

Messi was crowned as one of football’s greatest players after he guided Argentina to the 2022 World Cup title, while Neymar, who has won multiple trophies, is Brazil’s top scorer ahead of Pele.

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi has described Neymar as a 'beautiful person' in the Argentina superstar’s response to the PSG forward’s farewell message to him, Daily Mirror reports.

Messi is set to part ways with Neymar for the second time, after the six-time Ballon d’Or winner confirmed he will be leaving PSG when his contract expires this month.

The pair, who have won multiple trophies together, including the Champions League title, first began playing together in 2013 when Neymar made the switch to Barcelona from Brazilian club Santos.

Neymar pens message to Messi

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Neymar was saddened to see teammate Lionel Messi leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the month, after they spent two years together in the French capital.

Messi’s time at PSG has been considered a flop by many of the club’s fans, who have criticised and jeered the 35-year-old forward, after he failed to guide the Ligue 1 giants to the Champions League title.

Neymar revealed that he and Messi had tried their best to bring success to the Paris club, but it did not work as they had expected, and he wished him the best in his future endeavours.
