Mother of fast-rising Ghanaian star, Ernest Nuamah, Madam Regina Nuamah has disclosed how she nearly made him quit football because of his struggles with school.

According to Madam Nuamah, the FC Nordsjaelland winger was a quiet and shy person while growing up in Kumasi.

In school, she revealed he was not as academically inclined as his friends but was always the best when it came time for sport.

"In the beginning, I've got to be honest with you, we didn't want him to play football because he was not clever in school," she told King Eben TV.

She explained her neighbour did not have a television so the children would watch TV at their house.

"And when they are in our room, you'll see them reading things written on TV but my son will not be able to mention a word. I got frustrated by that. He was a very shy person but what God has decreed will always happen."

Nuamah was eventually scouted by the Right to Dream Academy, where he honed his talent before leaving for Denmark to begin his professional career.

His blistering performances in the Danish Superliga have seen him win the best player for Spring.

Nuamah wins top award

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghanaian youngster, Nuamah celebrated his Black Stars invite by scooping the award for the best player in the Danish Superliga.

The 19-year-old was voted the best player in the league for that part of the season by coaches, following his outstanding displays for FC Nordsjaelland.

Nuamah, who has scored 12 goals this season for his Danish side, went from the sixth-best player in the autumn period to being the top player by Spring.

Nuamah earns Black Stars invite

Sports Brief also reported on Nuamah receiving his national team invite ahead of Ghana's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar in June.

Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton reportedly included the young winger to join his 24-man squad for the June 18 penultimate qualifier in Antananarivo.

The Ghana under-23 star has been in sensational form for FC Nordsjaelland in the Danish Superliga, which earned him a place in the Ghanaian squad.
