  • Lionel Messi will reveal his next club when the 2022/23 football season officially ends next week
  • The 35-year-old superstar has confirmed he will be leaving Paris Saint-Germain after two seasons
  • Barcelona, Inter Miami, and Al Hilal have all indicated interest in signing Messi this summer

Lionel Messi is set to settle speculation surrounding his future after confirming he will leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.

The 35-year-old joined PSG in 2021 as a free agent and will leave Les Parisians as a two-time Ligue 1 champion when he departs the club at the end of the 2022/23 season.

According to Football Espana, Barcelona manager, Xavi has revealed that Messi has earned the right to dictate which club he wants to play for and that the doors at Camp Nou will always be open to the Argentine.

“He is finishing the season there, he has a lot of respect for Paris Saint-Germain, he wants to finish in the best way, his contract ends, and then he has earned all the right in the world to say where to go, where to end his career.
“I think that he has football to continue at a high level and that if he comes to Barca, which most or all of the Catalans want, especially the coach, the doors are open, I am convinced that it will go well.”

Barcelona are among three clubs bidding to sign Messi this summer, although the Catalans face outright competition from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal and Inter Miami.

Why Messi is hasty

Lionel Messi is eager to decide on his future after it was confirmed that Al-Hilal’s lucrative offer for the Argentine superstar expires on June 15, Goal reports.

The Saudi Pro League club has tabled a massive €500 million offer for the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, who is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.

Barcelona have often repeated their willingness to bring back Messi to the Camp Nou next season, but have found themselves in a complex financial situation, which Al-Hilal hope to exploit.

Messi’s departure from PSG confirmed

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Paris Saint-Germain manager, Christophe Galtier has confirmed that Lionel Messi will leave the club this summer.

Messi's two-year contract with Les Parisiens is due to expire this summer, and rumours have been swirling about the legendary forward's future for a considerable amount of time.

The Argentine World Cup winner's future has been confirmed by Galtier, who revealed in his pre-match press conference that this weekend's Ligue 1 clash against Clermont Foot will be the player's last with the club.
