- Carlo Ancelotti insists the culture of insulting players and staff in Spain needs changing
- The Real Madrid coach stated players and managers get insulted regularly in the country
- Vinicius Junior is the latest footballer to suffer racial abuse during their Valencia clash
Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti has condemned the racist attacks on Vinicius Junior and has called for the insults on players and managers alike in La Liga to end.
The Italian manager revealed that in Spain, it is generally accepted for footballers and managers to suffer insults from supporters and the media during matches.
According to Football Espana, Ancelotti has now called on the authorities to emulate the strategy employed in England to curb the menace in Spanish football.
“Condemning is not enough, because after, you have to act. We started doing that a long time ago… but action has not yet been taken, and it has to end this problem of racism.
“In England they don’t insult you… and I think that it is because this issue has been resolved a long time ago. They took drastic measures, five years English fans were expelled from Europe. There, there are isolated cases of racism, but they don’t insult you.”
Finally, Ancelotti noted that the football community worldwide is waiting to see the actions taken by the Spanish FA and La Liga to end similar attacks on players.
