Pep Guardiola has praised Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew after Manchester City's hard-fought win at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace.

Erling Haaland's second half penalty ensured City's hopes of defending their title remains on course.

The English champions laboured for victory, with Palace causing trouble through winger's Wilfried Zaha and forward Ayew.

After the game, Guardiola admitted the duo of Zaha and Ayew was incredible despite failing to score.

“It is always tricky playing here [Selhurst Park],” told Sky Sports, as quoted by thepressradio.
“We are always confident playing at home but I always have this belief that it is always tricky here," he added.
“The way they play and run is just incredible. Jordan Ayew and Zaha are incredible players.
“They are always running and creating spaces for the team.”

Ayew has been deployed in various positions this season under manager Patrick Vieira. The Black Stars forward has netted once in the ongoing campaign.

The former Swansea City forward is expected to join his Black Stars teammates next week ahead of the AFCON qualifier against Angola.

Jordan Ayew named in Ghana squad

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that new Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton has released his team for the double-header AFCON 2023 qualifier against Angola later this month.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion manager named a 25-man squad for the games.

Conspicuously missing is defender Baba Rahman while in-form KRC Genk star Joseph Paintsil makes a return to the team.

Jordan Ayew meets Tariq Lamptey

Ghana duo Jordan Ayew and Tariq Lamptey met after the game between Brighton and Crystal Palace at the Selhurst Park on Saturday.

The Black Stars players featured for their clubs as Brighton travelled to pick a point against Crystal Palace in London.

Ayew started and lasted the entire duration while Lamptey replaced Adam Webster in the second half.
