  • Luciano Spalletti has managed to drill a wonderful Napoli side that has been unplayable this season
  • The reward is set to be the Scudetto triumph, with the Naples outfit currently commanding a huge lead
  • Against Atalanta, Spalletti tried to pull off a bizarre tactic that unfortunately did not work out

There is little doubt that Napoli will be crowned Serie A champions this season for the first time in over 30 years. It would take a miracle for the Partenopei to lose an 18-point gap with 12 games to go.

Luciano Spalletti's side have been exceptional in all areas this season. From the attacking prowess of Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, to the defensive resoluteness of Min-Jae Kim and Amir Rrahmani. They have had no match in Italy this season.

If they can maintain their form in all competitions, then Napoli fans can perhaps dream of a League and Champions League double. They lead Frankfurt 2-0 ahead of the second leg in the round of 16.

Weird kick-off routine

Against Atalanta on March 11th, fans noticed a strange tactic employed by Spalletti right at the start of the game. Napoli won the toss to kick off the game. Normally, players usually take their perceived positions inside their own half.

However, every Napoli player, save for two (the goalkeeper and Kim), lined up on the halfway line. Spalletti wanted to catch Atalanta out in the first few minutes. An early goal usually disorients the opposition.

As soon as the whistle went, the Napoli players dropped forward but unluckily lost possession, and their plan went through the window. Something tells us that Spalleti will repeat this in the near future.

Kvaratskhelia and Rrahmani got the goals in the game as the Serie A dream gets closer and closer.

Osimhen stars in Atalanta win

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen on Saturday, 11 March, provided an assist for Napoli in their 2-0 win over Atalanta in what was a challenging Serie A battle which the hosts won.

Going into the encounter, Osimhen was tipped by many Nigerian fans to net against Ademola Lookman and his teammates, but he was unable to find the back of the net.

Napoli started the game impressively like lions since they were playing in front of their supporters, and they knew that a win would do them lots of good in their ambition to win the league title.
