  • Arsenal beat Fulham 3-0 in the London derby on Sunday to reclaim their five points lead
  • Manchester City reduced the advantage to two points after beating Crystal Palace on Saturday
  • Pep Guardiola has praised his former assistant Mikel Arteta for building a solid team

Pep Guardiola has dominated English football since moving to the country in 2016 and has won all domestic trophies multiple times, including four Premier League titles and four league cups.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was part of the former Barcelona manager's backroom staff for three years before taking on the job at his former club in the Emirates Stadium dugout.

Arteta survived his early days of poor results and has built a team competing for titles against his former boss and employers in a short time.

Guardiola reveals where Arsenal beats City

Pep did not only have an impact on Arteta's coaching career, but he also sold him players that have formed an essential part of his team. Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus are helping Arsenal topple their former team, as reported by Guardian.

The former Bayern Munich boss has lauded their title rivals and also highlighted an important attribute that makes the Gunners better than his team in an interview quoted by Sun UK.

“They have gone many years without winning the Premier League, and that has given them a little bit extra to win games, as they have after 93, 96, or 98 minutes,” he said.
“That desire is something they have that we don’t because we have won back-to-back titles.”
“Normally in this country, when you win something, and then you don’t start the season well, or another team is better, you drop this consistency. Arsenal are the favourites because they are in front,” he added.

City won the first leg encounter between the two sides 3-1 at the Emirates, with the second leg still to come on April 26 at the Etihad Stadium.

Zinchenko improves Arsenal's mentality

Sports Brief earlier reported how Zinchenko has changed Arsenal's mentality and has become a leader in the dressing room despite only joining in the summer.

The Ukrainian won four Premier League titles at City and claimed his earlier talks of a title run in the Arsenal dressing room were met with laughter from teammates, but now no one laughs because of their position.
