Heartbroken Best Friend of Christian Atsu Shares Emotional Message After One Week Observation

Mubarak Wakaso is yet to come to terms with the passing of his close friend and confidant Christian Atsu.

Atsu tragically died following the 7.8 magnitude earthquake which hit Turkey and Syria in the early hours of February 6, 2023.

The one-week observation of Atsu was held on Saturday, March 4, as friends, family and ex-teammates paid their respects.

Wakaso, who was unable to make the trip due to club commitment with KAS Eupen in Belgium, took to social media to pay his tribute to Atsu.

"Will continue to feed you love. Till we meet again bro," he posted on Facebook with a heartbroken emoji.

Th final burial and funeral of the late footballer will be held on March 17, at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.

The Ghana government has pledged to support the funeral of the player as Ghanaians bid farewell to the fallen hero.

Atsu played 65 times for the Black Stars of Ghana and scored nine goals. He was the best player at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

He also played for Chelsea, Everton, Bournemouth and Newcastle United in England.

Muntari breaks down in tears

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Ghana international, Sulley Muntari could not hold back the tears during the one-week observation of the late Christian Atsu.

The ex-Black Stars man had to be consoled by former Ghana goalkeeper, Richard Kingson as he struggled to hide his emotions.

Several ex-footballers and teammates of the former Chelsea and Newcastle United winger arrived at the Ajiringanor School park to pay respects to Atsu before his final funeral on March 17.

Patoranking arrives at Atsu's one-week observation

Nigerian music superstar, Patoranking has paid an emotional tribute to friend and former Ghana international, Christian Atsu.

The Afrobeats and reggae-dancehall singer is one of the high ranking personalities that made it to the one-week observation of the player in Accra.

Atsu tragically died following a devastating earthquake in Turkey on February 6, 2023, which claimed the lives of over 50,000 people.
