Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has urged England youngster Jadon Sancho to shun a move to Old Trafford this summer.

The 33-year-old DC United attacker spent 13 years with the Red Devils but insists it was not time for the teenage sensation to return to England.

Sancho forced a move out of Manchester City to join Borussia Dortmund in 2017 following his exclusion from their pre-season squad in a deal around £8 million.

The same year, he was promoted to the club's senior team and became an instant hit for the German League side.

At the end of the 2018-19 league season, Sancho scored 12 goals and 14 assists in 34 Bundesliga matches - an incredible stat that attracted top European clubs to his attention.

While speaking with German newspaper Bild, Rooney said: "Dortmund is a great club with great fans, they trust their young players and you can see that in Sancho and the progress he has made in the last 12 months."

"Now Jadon has to ask himself whether he would get the playing time he gets in Dortmund when he moves to England, or would he just sit on the bench," Rooney warned.
"Playing time is so important for a young player like Jadon, so if he gets the most playing time in Dortmund, he should stay there," he added.

Having sealed a move to the German side in 2017, Sancho has three more years in his current deal with the club.

Meanwhile, Man United have completed the signings of right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka in a £50 million deal, while Wales winger Daniel James joined from Swansea for £18 million.
