  • Nigerian music has gone global and is one of the country's greatest exports
  • It comes in handy in club's dressing rooms during celebrations and on footballer's playlists
  • Cristiano Ronaldo's kids become the latest to join in the train of vibing to Nigerian music

Music is a universal language and a tool of socialisation amongst people who don't even speak the language of the artists. Nigerian music has seen its popularity rise recently, with Afrobeat made famous by top artists like Davido, WizKid and Burna Boy.

Viral videos, shorts and reels have also enhanced the popularity with different challenges on Instagram and Tiktok, using the songs as background music.

It also has a presence in sports, especially football, especially in the English Premier League because of African communities in the UK, even among clubs with no Nigerian players.

Ronaldo uploaded the video on Instagram, which was recirculated on Twitter by Nigerian media house Yabaleft.

This comes a day after the Al-Nassr forward captained his club to a comeback win over rrelegation-threatened Al-Batin. The Saudi Pro League side scored all three goals in the stoppage minute after trailing for most of the game, as reported by Indian Express.

Calm Down played at Al-Nassr stadium

Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in January, and during his first appearance at the club's stadium, fans were jamming to Rema's Calm down, as reported by Sports Brief.

The 38-year-old did not feature in the match as he was not registered yet. Al-Nassr defeated Al-Ta'ee 2-0. The Nigerian star uploaded the video on his Instagram page.

Calm Down played ahead of Arsenal Newcastle game
