World Cup history-makers, Morocco will face five-time champions, Brazil in a friendly next month in Tangier.

The tournament's semi-finalists have also arranged a game against South American nation, Peru.

The Moroccan Football Federation confirmed the friendlies on Wednesday, February 15, as the team prepares for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in March.

"In appreciation of the glow of Moroccan football and its fans, which have become the focus of international acclaim after the historic achievement of the national team in the 2022 Qatar World Cup finals, the Royal Moroccan Football League decided that the Atlas Lions would make the first appearance... in front of their fans in Morocco, in an international friendly match against Brazil," wrote the Moroccan FA on their official website.

The Moroccan FA noted the Atlas Lions would take on the International Federation of Football Associations' number one monthly ranked team (Brazil) at the Grand Stadium in Tangier on March 25.

"After that, the national team will head to Spain, where it will face, on March 28, 2023, in a second friendly match, the Peruvian national team, on the grounds of the Civitas Metropolitano in Madrid, at 9:30 at night local time."

Morocco won the hearts of many after their historic feat at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The Atlas Lions reached the semi-finals, becoming the first African country to make the last four.

The North African nation have since set the target of winning the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoire.

Morocco players receive heroic welcome

Sports Brief also reported on the Morocco national football team being accorded a heroes' welcome after returning home from the 2022 World Cup.

The North Africans enjoyed a successful campaign at the tournament, becoming the first team from the continent in history to reach the semi-finals.

The Atlas Lions made it to the last four after seeing off some of the best teams from across the world, including Belgium, Croatia and Portugal.
