Chuba Akpom Scores Brace As Middlesbrough Beat Blackpool in Championship Game

Nigeria eligible forward Chuba Akpom on Saturday, 4 February, scored a brace for Middlesbrough in the Championship beating Blackpool 3-0.

Akpom had a very impressive game in which the former Arsenal player scored an excellent goal in the 32nd minute which has broken the internet.

Going into this game, Akpom and his teammates knew that a win would help them to maintain their third position on the table and they did themselves lots of good by winning.

However, the hosts had to wait until the 32nd minute before Akpom gave them the lead after nicely dispatching some defenders before curling the ball into the net.

Born in London to Nigerian parents, Akpom is a dual citizen of the United Kingdom and Nigeria.

He has played for England in all youth levels, but he is still eligible to feature for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Chuba Akpom nets hat-trick

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Nigeria eligible Chuba Akpom was on Monday evening, 26 December, the hero for Middlesbrough in their Championship game against visiting Wigan Athletic winning 4-1.

It was a great performance from the 27-year-old forward who has been impressive so far this season for Middlesbrough in all competitions.

Marcus Forss put Boro ahead on 26 minutes before Akpom then took control of the game in the second half.

The former Arsenal player scored his first goal in the 49th minute, netted the second in the 59th minute before getting his hat-trick in the 90th minute.

There have now been talks for the Nigerian Football Federation and Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, to invite Akpom to the three-time African champions.
