  • Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo was denied a transfer out of the club in the January transfer window
  • The club rejected bids from Chelsea and Arsenal despite a public request for a move out of the club
  • His agent has now opened up on insider details on what transpired around the proposed move

Chelsea and Arsenal had Brighton midfielder Moises as a priority target in the January transfer window but none of the London heavyweights could convince Burnley to sell one of their most important players.

Chelsea had a bid of £55m rejected and never went back with another bid but instead monitored things from afar while they went all out for Enzo Fernandez whom they signed for £106m.

Arsenal had two bids of £60m and £70m rejected as reported by BBC Sports as the Seagulls insisted the player was not for sale and made it good on their word and avoided any deadline day drama.

Caicedo's agent berates Brighton

Manuel Sierra, who became the player's new agent last month as noted by Sports Illustrated, has opened up on the details of the denied move in an interview with Marca90, quoted by Sun UK.

“The offers were received, you see what is on the table and Moises says that he wants to go forward, that it is the dream of his whole life, that it is an opportunity that may not be repeated in life…,” he said.
“We don’t know what can happen tomorrow, maybe he trains and gets injured. We can’t know what’s going to happen,” he added.

Brighton aware of Caicedo's statement

The Ecuadorian made an emotional statement on his social media pages after Brighton rejected Arsenal's first bid of £60m and Sierra has claimed the club were aware and he released it with permission.

“Moises asked the club for permission to publish the statement… They understand the situation and they love him very much. It was a consensual agreement” he said.

How Arsenal fans react to Brighton

Sports Brief earlier reported that the Gunners fans expressed their unhappiness at the South Coast club for turning down Arsenal's offer for the defensive midfielder.

The Premier League leaders were desperate to add a cover for star midfielder Thomas Partey and identified Caicedo as an ideal candidate but we're disappointed.

The club signed experienced midfielder Jorginho from Chelsea instead, yet again to the annoyance of the Reds who felt he was past his prime and should be nowhere near the club.
