Morocco forward, Sofiane Boufal has joined Qatari giants, Al Rayyan SC in the winter transfer window.

The 29-year-old joins the Qatari league outfit after leaving Ligue 1 club, Angers.

Boufal has been on the radar of several clubs in Europe but opted to move to the Middle East instead.

Al Rayyan announced the signing of the player via their official Twitter account, sharing their excitement after sealing the deal.

The former Southampton player enjoyed a good World Cup campaign in Qatar with the Moroccan national team.

Boufal was a key member of the team that reached the semi-finals of the global showpiece, as the Atlas Lions became the first team from Africa to achieve that feat.

Despite his exploits at the Mundial, his former club continues to struggle in the French league. Boufal made 11 appearances and scored three goals in Ligue 1 this season.

He started his career at Angers before moving to Lille in 2015, winning the award for the best African player in Ligue 1 in 2016.

Boufal's electric performances earned him a move to Southampton. He later moved to Spain to play for Celta Vigo, before returning to France.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Boufal lighting up social media on December 6 with an impeccable piece of skill, as Morocco faced Spain in the World Cup round of 16.

The Atlas Lions went into the game with everything at stake, knowing a solid performance could be enough to send them to the quarter-final.

The north Africans played positively in the first half, exhibiting some bravery against a La Roja side which had thrashed Costa Rica 7-0 a few days earlier.

Ounahi joins Marseille from Angers

French giants, Olympique Marseille have completed the signing of Azzedine Ounahi in the January transfer window.

Sports Brief reported on the 22-year-old midfielder inking a four-and-a-half-year deal to join Marseille from Angers.

Ounahi garnered interest in Europe after a successful World Cup with the Atlas Lions, helping the North Africans reach the semi-finals.
