After the game, Messi showed off his ugly side by aiming angry words at Dutch striker Wout Weghorst, per Mirror.

"Keep moving, idiot," Messi told Weghorst in the tunnel as quoted by MARCA.

Nonetheless, the Argentina captain has now confessed that he is not pleased with his rude behaviour toward the current Manchester United forward.

"I didn't think about it, it came out in the moment," Messi said of the incident with Weghorst in an interview with the radio show Perros de la calle.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner subsequently clapped back at Dutch manager Louis Van Gaal after scoring his penalty by capping his ears in his celebration.

"And well, when it's all over, I don't like what I did, I don't like the 'keep moving' and all that. But well, they are moments of huge tension, and huge nervousness and everything happens very fast.

Messi tagged as 'rude'

Football fans have been left scandalized by Lionel Messi's unusual behaviour during Argentina's dramatic game against Holland.

In the dramatic quarterfinal affair marred by heated confrontations, Messi was involved in a row with Dutch boss Louis Van Gaal.

Prior to the game, the 71-year-old tactician revealed Messi was a tactical flaw to Argentina and would exploit his deficiency but was left red-faced after the South Americans progressed to the semis.

Weghorst slams Messi

Wout Weghorst was unhappy about the way he was treated by Lionel Messi at full-time after the Netherlands were knocked out of the World Cup by Argentina, Sports Brief earlier reported.

Weghorst had come off the bench to force extra time after he scored two late goals to cancel Argentina’s initial 2-0 lead in the feisty quarterfinal encounter.

The Netherlands forward who had initially had an altercation with Messi during the game was dismissed by the 7-time Ballon d’Or winner while he waited to congratulate him.
