Kylian Mbappe was in sensational form as he fired five goals past amateur club Pays de Cassel in the French Cup.

Mbappe, who finished the 2022 World Cup as the top scorer with eight goals, scored three in a 10-minute period before adding a brace in the second half.

His ruthless display has earned him a spot in the annals of PSG history, becoming the first player to score five goals in a single competitive game for Les Parisiens.

The 24-year-old striker now has an impressive 25 goals in 24 games in all competitions this season, per Daily Mail.

Assessing the vintage performance from his vice-captain, PSG manager Galtier admitted that his striker was obsessed with finding the back of the net.

“Kylian Mbappé, he's a goalscorer, he's obsessed with goals and attacking,” he said as quoted by Sportskeeda.

He would hope to continue in similar fashion when PSG face bitter rivals Marseille next week in the last 16 of the French Cup.

Mbappe nets historic five goals

Kylian Mbappe and Paris Saint-Germain were in ruthless fashion when they crossed paths with sixth-tier side Pays de Cassel in the Coupe de France.

The Frenchman scored a stunning first-half hat-trick in the space of 11 minutes before adding two more in the second half as PSG ran riot.

His goalscoring feat against the amateur club ensured he chalked an incredible feat, becoming the first PSG player to score five goals in a game.

Mbappe confirmed as PSG vice-captain

Sports Brief earlier reported that Kylian Mbappe has been named vice-captain at Paris Saint-Germain following his historic five-goal haul on Monday evening.

Mbappe notched a staggering five goals as PSG completed a demolishing exercise against amateur club Pays de Cassel in the French Cup.

The 24-year-old bagged a first-half hattrick before netting a brace in the second half to complete a 7-0 rout and set up a round-of-16 clash against Marseille in the next round of the French Cup, per GOAL.
