  • Kenneth Musonda has been trending after receiving eggs as a best match player in Zambia
  • The 27-year-old striker scored the winner for his club Power Dynamos in a win over Nkana
  • After the encounter, an official of Dynamos stepped forward to present Musonda with eggs

Zambian professional footballer, Kenneth Musonda has been trending on social media, after receiving five cartons of eggs for his superb performance for his club.

It was a bizarre scene in November last year, as Musonda was rewarded with the eggs after netting the winner for Power Dynamos in their 1-0 victory against Nkana.

Two cartons were given to him as a reward for scoring the only goal of the match, while the other three cartons were the prize for being named the man of the match.

The video of Musonda getting the cartons of eggs is now trending, based on the fact that several international sports media platforms are criticising the decision for the team not to give out a plaque or other award to their star player.

Musonda gives his response

"I just want to say thank you for the eggs that have been given to me. I'd like to thank my teammates, coaches and the management, and I would also just like to dedicate these eggs to one of our supporters who lost his life.''

Zambian set for World Cup

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported on how Barbra Banda will take part in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The deadly Zambian striker's participation in the much-anticipated tournament was up in the air as a result of gender eligibility.

Banda's own FA was surprisingly the one to withdraw her from the 2022 Women's AFCON in Morocco. Shepolopolo finished third, and there is no telling how much better they could have with her on the attack.
