According to the Daily Sun, the municipality has already parted ways with R54 million as per its mayor James Ntsolela. However, opposition parties said that the company chosen to construct wants an extra R20 million.

The Democratic Alliance's Johannes Le Grange said:

They are now coming forward and asking for 20% which is already another R11 million. We say no loud and clear. We're going to say no. We're not going to allow you to have excess money. What we want now is a complete investigation. The EFF as well as the Freedom Front Plus are under the impression that there is corruption afoot in the whole matter.

Mayor Ntsolela unconvincingly responded:

"The current scope of work is 99% complete and we have a further R10 million grant to adjust the current scope of work. The adjustment of the current scope of work will include paving, lights and others."

The article continued that Mashile did not deny receiving the money, but insisted that it did not come from FIFA and not Sundowns.

The popular Imbewu Enhle Festive Season Tournament in Daveyton proved no different. According to the Daily Sun, legendary Orlando Pirates defender Rooi Mahamutsa 'intimidated' a referee during one of the games into giving a favourable decision to his team.

He was playing for USB-18 in an absorbing encounter against Wattville United.
