Atletico Madrid have identified three top managers set to take over from Diego Simeone, when the Argentine manager steps down from his role at the end of the season.
Simeone’s 11-year reign at the Spanish capital is set to come to an end at the end of the 2022/23 season, which has prompted the La Liga club to intensify their search for his replacement.
According to Football Espana, Mauricio Pochettino - who has been out of work since leaving Paris Saint-Germain last summer - has been linked with replacing his countryman in Madrid.
Former Barcelona and Spain head coach, Luis Enrique is also on the La Liga’s club radar, due to his pedigree and his knowledge of the country's top flight league.

Also on Atletico Madrid’s three-man shortlist to replace Simeone is current River Plate boss and fellow Argentine, Marcelo Gallardo.

Meanwhile, former Atletico Madrid wing-back and Newcastle captain, Kieran Trippier believes a move to England would suit Simeone, following reports that he is set to leave Spain, Daily Mirror reports.
The English defender, who won the Spanish league title under the Argentine back at Atletico Madrid, has now urged his former boss to move to the Premier League.
Simeone won eight trophies in more than a decade at the Spanish giants, including two La Liga titles and reaching the UEFA Champions League final in 2014 and 2016.
