Diego Simeone’s reign as Atletico Madrid manager is set to come to an end at the end of the season, after 11 years in charge of the La Liga giants.
Simeone will depart this summer after several successes with the Rojiblancos, with the Argentine manager having reportedly informed the club’s board of his intention to leave already.
According to Football Espana, there is a growing portion of the Atleti supporters that are of the opinion Simeone should leave the club, in order to make better use of their present resources.
Given that the Argentine is one of the club's best managers, this may mark the end of their most illustrious era - and unquestionably the best in modern times.

Since joining the team, Simeone has guided Atletico Madrid to two La Liga titles, two Champions League finals, a Copa del Rey crown, two Europa League crowns, two European Super Cups, and a Spanish Super Cup.
Board wants fans against Simeone
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid wants the club’s supporters to force head coach Simeone out, in favour of keeping Manchester United and Arsenal transfer target, Joao Felix, Daily Express reports.
Simeone has had a fractured relationship with the club’s record signing this season, which has led to the Portuguese international seeking a loan away from the club this January.

Sports Brief also reported that Simeone’s position as Atletico Madrid manager is still safe despite a turbulent start to the La Liga giants' season.
The Argentine manager has seen his team struggle in all competitions this campaign, lying in fifth in the Spanish top flight league and already eliminated from the Champions League.
Atletico Madrid chief, Miguel Angel Gil Marin has now assured Simeone that he still retains the confidence of the board, and called the manager an important character in the history of the club.
