  • Vincent Aboubakar's time with Al-Nassr has been brought to an abrupt end
  • During his stint with Al-Nassr, Aboubakar notched 13 goals and contributed six assists in 39 outings
  • Meanwhile, the Cameroon captain has been sensationally linked with a move to Cristiano Ronaldo’s former club, Manchester United

Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr have reportedly terminated Vincent Aboubakar's contract.

Aboubakar shone for Cameroon at the 2022 World Cup as he captained his country and scored two goals in three matches.

But in a twist of fate, the 30-year-old has been brutally sacked in order to pave way for the registration of Cristiano Ronaldo, who was unveiled by the club earlier this week.

Al Nassr needed to clear up space in their squad as they have reached the full capacity for foreign players, hence arriving at the decision to part ways with Aboubakar, per SportBIBLE.

The Cameroonian was linked to a loan move to Manchester United, who are in desperate need of a forward following the acrimonious departure of Ronaldo.

Ronaldo was expected to form a lethal partnership up front with Aboubakar following his move to Al-Nassr, however, the envisaged alliance will remain a figment of the mind's eye.

Meanwhile, CR7 will now likely make his debut in Al-Nassr's Pro League home game against Al-Ettifaq on January 22, GOAL reports.

Man United keen on Vincent Aboubakar

English Premier League club Manchester United have reportedly agreed to sign Vincent Aboubakar on loan from Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.

The Red Devils are desperately in search of another striker after terminating Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract at the end of last month.

A recent report as cited by Sports Mole has it that Manchester United were alerted by the player’s availability as Al-Nassr are also prepared to let him go on loan.

Ronaldo applauds new teammate

Sports Brief earlier reported that Cristiano Ronaldo was present at his new team Al Nassr’s first game since he signed for the Saudi Arabia club.

The 37-year old however did not feature in the game but was seen watching proceedings from the VIP box.

On social media, Al Nassr shared a video of Cristiano Ronaldo watching his side’s second goal, which came from an odd assist from David Ospina.
