  • Jesse Marsch says every match feels like a cup final as his Leeds side battle to avoid relegation
  • The American admitted that sometimes he was left stressed by the demands of being a Premier League manager
  • His side is only two points off the relegation zone after 16 games

Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch has admitted he dislikes the stress that comes with managing in the Premier League.

The Peacocks find themselves in another relegation dogfight this season, as they sit just two points off the drop zone in 14th place.

For their next game, it will be a tricky outing at Elland Road against West Ham United, who are also desperate to rack up some points to get further away from the relegation places.

Ahead of the game, Marsch admitted every game was starting to feel like a cup final as he confessed he did not enjoy some elements of his work.

'It is always stressful,' he said. 'It's like I hate my job, but I have to keep going. I try to enjoy the moment and to be there for the team for what they need, but I hate the stress. He said as quoted on Daily Mail.
'But it's also awful, it's stressful beyond belief. And then, when what defines matches is such a fine margin of success and failure, it is not so easy to process.'

Despite the pressures of the job, the American is still keen on carrying on helping his team secure their Premier League status come May.

One thing Marsch will be optimistic about is the signing of Max Wober, a former Salzburg defender.

He has reportedly signed a deal until 2027 and played for Salzburg 125 times, scoring nine goals.

The 24-year-old could make his debut as early as Sunday, when Leeds face Cardiff City in the FA Cup.

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported on Eddie Howe’s take on reports linking Cristiano Ronaldo with a move to Newcastle.

While the 37-year-old is now likely to end his career in the Middle East, Spanish outlet Marca came out with interesting reports suggesting Ronaldo could return to the Premier League.

The report claimed the veteran would be allowed to join Newcastle on loan from Al-Nassr, should the Magpies qualify for the Champions League next season

Addressing the rumours, the Magpies' boss Howe denied there being any clause allowing Ronaldo to join his high-flying boys.
