  • Chelsea's Jorginho is in his last months of his contract with no renewal agreement in place
  • Reports suggest the midfielder will leave Stamford Bridge for free at the end of this season
  • Jorginho's agent has confirmed the Brazilian will consider Napoli next if he leaves the Blues

Chelsea hired Maurizio Sarri in 2018 and as he walked through the door, he brought in a player central to his style of play - Jorginho - from his former club Napoli for £57m.

The Italian left Chelsea after just a season, but the midfielder stayed and is now in the final few months of the contract he signed when he had just joined the club ahead of the 2018/19 season.

An agreement over a renewal is yet to be reached and seems increasingly unlikely, and the midfielder may leave Chelsea after five successful years.

His agent, João Santos has confirmed what the future desire of the Brazil-born midfielder is.

Jorginho's agent on his future

The 2021 UEFA player of the year could leave Chelsea as early as January if no agreement is found, with Newcastle United interested, according to Daily Mail.

His agent confirms a renewal with the Blues is still the priority, but should this fail to materialise, the midfielder would like to return to former club Napoli - even though they have received no offers.

Santos said this to TuttoMercatoWeb as quoted by GIFN:

“Jorginho’s contract expires on June 30; we have a renewal proposal and we give priority to Chelsea. Naples represented our home in Italy, Giuntoli greatly appreciates the boy; for us it is a special place. If there was a new interest we would be happy, but at the moment Napoli have not made contact with us.”

Earlier this year, Santos spoke on having conversations with PSG, Barcelona and AC Milan over a potential move for the Euro 2020 winner, as noted by Metro.

Chelsea told to sign Rice

If Jorginho departs Chelsea, one of the players who could be brought in to replace him is West Ham United defensive midfielder, Declan Rice.

As reported by Sports Brief, former midfielder Emmanuel Petit advised Chelsea to pursue Rice, calling him an ideal candidate in the midfield to replace either Jorginho or Ngolo Kanté, who could also depart the club in the summer.

Rice is a former Chelsea academy player. The Blues hold a long-standing interest in bringing him back to the club he played for, until he was released at the age of 14.
