Argentina's team cook Antonio Farias raced to the pitch to give Lionel Messi a warm embrace at the end of Argentina's game against France on December 18th.

The woman had earlier been thought to be Messi's mother Celia María Cuccittini but it has since been established that it was Antonio who shares a close relationship with Messi and the whole squad.

Argentina beat France on post-match penalties to win their first World Cup title since 1986 and a first for Messi who has now won every available trophy at his disposal.

The Paris Saint-Germain star also won the player of the tournament after scoring in every stage of the World Cup.

Emotions ran high after the final whistle with Antonia running onto the pitch to congratulate him. As AS USA reports, Antonia has been in the national team set-up for close to 10 years and accompanies the team to all their trips.

In a video spotted by Sports Brief, Antonia 'ambushed' Messi from behind before giving him a warm embrace.
