The Paris Saint-Germain forward bagged a staggering eight goals in the just-ended Mundial, including a stunning hattrick in the pulsating final against Argentina.

Despite his goalscoring heroics, his effort proved futile as Argentina clinched their third World Cup title via the dreaded penalty shootout.

In a photo posted on social media seen by Sports Brief, a devastated Mbappe was consoled by France president Emmanuel Macron, who held the PSG frontman in his arms.

France superstar Kylian Mbappe has been crowned the winner of the 2022 World Cup Golden Boot.

Mbappe carted home the prestigious award after emerging as the top scorer of the Qatar edition of the global football showpiece.

The Paris Saint-Germain ace scored an incredible eight goals during the tournament, including a hat trick in the final against Argentina on Sunday.

Sports Brief earlier reported that Kylian Mbappe scored a goal of the World Cup contender to level the scores in the final of the tournament against Argentina.

The Paris Saint Germain star turned the game around after netting in quick succession to help Les Blues come from two goals down.

Mbappe's second was a stunner after meeting a cross from Marcus Thuram in the 81st minute.
