British broadcaster Piers Morgan has made a wild allegation, hinting that the Camel virus which rocked the France squad was actually deliberate.

France were rocked with the flu-like Camel virus, days before the much-anticipated final with a number of the playing body falling ill.

Adrien Rabiot and Dayot Upamecano fell to the virus ahead of the semifinals before Raphael Varane and Ibrahima Konate followed suit.

However, the quartet recovered in time and even appeared in the enthralling World Cup final.

Aside from the action-packed nature of the Grand Finale which left social media buzzing, TV personality, Piers Morgan continues to muddy the waters on the micro-blogging App, Twitter, per Express.

Morgan, who had predicted earlier that Argentina will lose the final leaving Messi in tears, alleged the French team were actually poisoned.

It remains to be seen if the Local Organizing Committee of the 2022 World Cup and world governing body FIFA will rebuff the claims of Morgan.

Despite Morgan's wild allegations, Argentina secured their third World Cup crown after edging France 4-2 on penalties following an enthralling six-goal thriller, according to the Athletic.

Morgan courts controversy

TV personality Piers Morgan has come out with an interesting claim about how the World Cup final would go on Sunday, December 18.

The controversial personality has seen his popularity, especially on social media, blow up after the sensational interview with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sports Brief reported that French defenders Raphael Varane and Ibrahima Konate are the latest players to fall ill, ahead of Sunday's World Cup final against Argentina.

The pair played as Les Bleus booked their spot in football's biggest tournament final, by beating Morocco 2-0 in the semi-finals on Wednesday evening.

However, reports from France squad suggest that Varane and Konate have fallen ill just two days before the final showpiece.
