  • More French players have come down with the 'camel virus' before the World Cup final
  • Three players from the French squad had already been reported ill from the strange virus
  • The news is a big blow to France who face Argentina in the culmination of the tournament

French defenders Raphael Varane and Ibrahima Konate are the latest players to fall ill, ahead of Sunday's World Cup final against Argentina.

The pair played as Les Bleus booked their spot in football's biggest tournament final, by beating Morocco 2-0 in the semi-finals on Wednesday evening.

However, reports emanating from France squad suggest that both Varane and Konate have fallen ill just two days before the final showpiece.

Reigning champions France would hope both have a clean bill of health before facing Argentina in the finals.

The European powerhouse are looking to win back-to-back World Cup titles after success in 2018.

France trio battling illness

Kingsley Coman, Adrien Rabiot and Dayot Upamecano are already fighting to be fit ahead of Sunday's World Cup final against Argentina, Goal reported.

Les Bleus had placed Rabiot in an isolated hotel in order to prevent the spread of the virus, but apparently that plan has failed after it spread to two more players.

Upamecano and Rabiot, who have been regulars in Deschamps' France squad up until the semi-final, were compelled to miss the 2-0 victory over Morocco due to the virus.

France star fires warning

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that ahead of the final 2022 FIFA World Cup final, France star Theo Hernandez has boasted that Les Bleus are unafraid of Lionel Messi.

The Lusail Iconic Stadium in Qatar will witness history, as Argentina take on the defending champions in the FIFA World Cup final.

Bayern Munich defender Hernandez has stated his team is not scared by the veteran South American striker.
