France, meanwhile, have come up against Poland, England, and Morocco in the knockout stages on their way to the final.

Last time Argentina played France

According to Forbes, Argentina and France have played each other on 12 occasions, with the South Americans winning six of those fixtures.

The most recent meeting between the two nations was in 2018 when they faced off in the round of 16 of the World Cup in Russia.

Les Bleus emerged victors in the tie, winning 4-3 to advance to the quarter-final.

ESPN records that Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappé scored twice during the encounter to inspire his side to a thrilling win.

Benjamin Pavard and Antoine Griezmann were also on target for France, with Sergio Aguero, Angel Di Maria, and Mercado scoring for Argentina.
