The Juventus midfielder was among several French players who failed to make the trip to Qatar, as the reigning champions embarked on a quest to defend their title.

However, despite his absence and that of other key players, Les Bleus have enjoyed an impressive run of form at the tournament.

Pogba reacts to France win

While reacting to France's win, Pogba took to Instagram to hail his countrymen for the stunning run they have had in Qatar, pointing out that 'it's near' - suggesting the team's closeness to defending the crown.

The former Manchester United midfielder went on to single out Antoine Griezmann for praise, owing to his impressive display in the middle of the park, where he has often been deployed to fill the void left by Pogba and N'Golo Kante.

"Griezmannkante," Pogba posted alongside a thinking-face emoji.

Should Les Bleus come out on top against La Albiceleste, they will become the first country in history to successfully defend the Mundial in 60 years.

Regragui backs France for glory

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Walid Regragui revealed who Morocco will support to win the 2022 World Cup, between Argentina and France.

The North Africans' dream of reaching the final of the tournament was cut short on Wednesday night after a comprehensive victory by their European opposition.

Les Bleus' 2-0 win over the Atlas Lions saw them set up a crunch clash against the South American giants and Lionel Messi on Sunday, in the final of the tournament in Qatar.
