British broadcaster Piers Morgan is banking his hopes on France upstaging Lionel Messi's Argentina in the finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Argentina booked their sixth World Cup final on the back of a resounding 3-0 victory over Croatia and will be aiming to win the Mundial for the first time since 1986 on Sunday, December 18.

While La Albiceleste's spot in the finals is cemented they will discover their opponents for the Grand Finale soon when defending champions France cross paths with giant-killers Morocco in Wednesday's second semifinal.

Despite the Morocco hurdle, Morgan, who is a staunch Cristiano Ronaldo fan, believes France will reach the finals and eventually defend their trophy, ending Messi's World Cup ambition.

“Final prediction, France are going to win and break Messi's heart, take that to the bank,” he told talkSPORT via All Football.

When is the Grand Finale?

According to Sporting News, the finals of football's biggest festival, the World Cup, will be staged on Sunday, December 18 at the Lusail Iconic Stadium. It will kick off at 3.00 pm GMT.

Morgan rates Messi 4th on GOAT standings

Lionel Messi went one step further in unending the GOAT debate between him and his rival Cristiano Ronaldo by reaching the final of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo has never gone past the quarter-final stage of the World Cup and suffered another elimination at that stage after losing 1-0 to Morocco days ago.

This however does not change the hardened mind of Piers Morgan who still puts his friend ahead of everyone else and even failed to recognize the man who won three World Cup titles.

Morgan reacts to Portugal's exit

Sports Brief earlier reported that Piers Morgan is full of praise for Morocco following their historic win in the quarter-final of the World Cup against Portugal.

Youssef En-Nesyri's first-half header ensured Morocco became the first African team to reach the last four of the World Cup.

After the game, the British broadcaster took to social media to celebrate the performance of the Atlas Lions.
