Samuel Eto'o's bold World Cup predictions have aged perfectly well as fans have gushed over his forecast.

The former footballer turned Cameroon Football Federation president backed African nations to perform well in this year's tournament.

His predictions of Morocco, Cameroon and Senegal breaking the semi-final glass ceiling for the continent sounded outlandish at the time, considering Africa's sub-par showing at previous editions.

However, Morocco's stunning run in Qatar has vindicated Eto'o, Givemesport reports.

According to the Sun, the four-time best player in Africa did not only predict the Atlas Lions to reach the last four, but also got their semi-final opponents accurate as well.

His prediction has wowed football followers, who took to Twitter to express their thoughts.

Eto'o applauds Morocco's semi-final feat

Sports Brief reported that Eto'o congratulated Morocco for becoming the fourth African country to reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

The Atlas Lions stunned 2010 champions Spain to reach the last eight, after a penalty shootout victory on Tuesday.

Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou was Morocco's hero after saving two kicks, with Achraf Hakimi putting the icing on the cake with an expertly-taken penalty.

Eto'o backs Africans at Mundial

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that legendary African footballer Eto'o believes in Africans winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Africa will be represented by Cameroon, Ghana, Morocco, Tunisia and Senegal at the tournament in November and December.

The continent's best performance at the World Cup was when Cameroon, Senegal and Ghana reached the quarter-finals, in 1990, 2002 and 2010 respectively.
