The former Manchester United forward has already bagged two goals for Portugal at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup but has now lost his place to Goncalo Ramos who scored a hattrick against Switzerland.

Ronaldo who made his international debut for Portugal in 2003 at the age of 18, has since earned over 190 caps, making him Portugal's most-capped player.

Ronaldo's sisters leap to his defense

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo’s sisters came out in the forward’s defense after the Portuguese star was used as a substitute in the World Cup round of 16 clash against Switzerland, Marca reports.

They expressed their support and emphasized that the Portugal National Team is what matters most, but they also made it plain that their brother deserves more respect than he has been receiving this week.

One of them, Elma, went so far as to be extremely critical of the "losers and hypocrites" who had used Portugal's stunning victory to attack the player.

Stam bluntly states the truth about Ronaldo

Earlier, Sports Brief reported former Netherlands, Manchester United and AC Milan defender, Jaap Stam gave his thoughts about Cristiano Ronaldo during a 2022 FIFA World Cup broadcast.

He did not hold back when discussing Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal's prospects in the tournament.

Turning to Ronaldo, Stam stated the player had not performed and was not the same striker in recent years as he was in the past.
