However, it was Neymar who ultimately stole the show as hawk-eyed fans spotted him pull off a rare Lionel Messi skill at one point in the match.

A video of the incident showed Neymar, who is known for his flair of skills, using the referee as a smokescreen to beat two South Korean players.

The footage quickly sparked reactions from fans, with one saying:

“Easily the second most talented player of the Messi era."

A second added:

"South American heritage.”

Another noted:

“Greatness is contagious.”

Meanwhile, Neymar will now be hoping to continue the momentum when Brazil take on Croatia in the last eight on Friday, December 9.

Neymar dedicates goal to Telles

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar Jr has dedicated his World Cup goal against South Korea to injured Man United ace, Alex Telles.

Neymar was part of Brazil's starting XI as the South Americans demolished South Korea on Monday night, December 5, in their round of 16 tie.

Telles did not make the Brazil team in the knockout fixture, with the left-back currently nursing an injury he picked up in the group stages.
