Kylian Mbappé has set his sights on winning the FIFA World Cup for the second time in his career.

Mbappé, who played a starring role on France's route to winning their second world title in 2018, wants to attain the feat four years on.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward has been in blistering form for Les Bleus, scoring five goals in as many games played, including a brace in the round-of-16 clash against Poland.

On the back of his goal-scoring heroics, the 23-year-old stated with unmitigated certainty his intentions of winning the Mundial in Qatar.

"My goal now is to win the World Cup. This is my only dream. That's what I came here for," Mbappé said as quoted by Football Tweet.

What's next for Mbappé?

Having reached the quarter-finals, Mbappé and his French teammates will face England in their next assignment.

He has bagged five goals in four games, and will look to add to his tally at the Mundial when the quarter-finals kick start.

Mbappe inspires France to quarter-finals

Kylian Mbappe set up Olivier Giroud for a history-making goal, and then scored two himself, as title holders France eased into the quarter-finals of the World Cup with a 3-1 win over Poland on Sunday.

Giroud's opening goal a minute before half-time was his 52nd for his country, allowing him to pass Thierry Henry to become France's all-time record marksman.

Mbappe's lethal strike in the 74th minute killed off any prospect of a Poland comeback and he netted again at the death, to move to nine goals in just 11 World Cup appearances.

Fans torn between Mbappe, Haaland

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that football fans being divided on who is better: Mbappe or Erling Haaland? The debate raged after the French star's World Cup masterclass against Poland.

Mbappe has been in flawless shape for Les Bleus at the ongoing tournament in Qatar, with the Paris Saint-Germain ace playing a central role in the team's qualification for the quarter-finals.

The youngster has already found the back of the net five times in the 2022 World Cup, and looks set to add to his tally after France booked a spot in the last eight on Sunday, December 4.
