Olivier Giroud became France's all time top scorer with 52 goals surpassing Thierry Henry's tally of 51 goals for Les Bleus after putting France 1-0 up against Poland.

Giroud timed his run to beat the offside trap and coolly slot home Kylian Mbappe's pass to give France the lead going into half time and hit a personal milestone.

Giroud proud to be levelled

Sports Brief earlier reported that Olivier Giroud said it means a lot to be levelled with France after he matched Henry's 51 goals a week ago.

He has now surpassed the record to become the number scoring player for the France national team and he would be so proud of what he has done.

There is still time for Giroud to improve his tally for France before he retires internationally and leaves the stage for others to chase, particularly Kylian Mbappe.
