Ghanaian fans defied the heartbreak of getting knockout of the FIFA World Cup as they cleaned the stadium in the aftermath of their defeat to Uruguay.

The Black Stars who needed a win or just a draw to progress to the round of 16, suffered a 2-0 defeat to the Uruguayans with captain, Jordan Ayew missing a penalty in the game.

The Ghanaian supporters join the likes of Japan who have been known to clean up after their matches at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Ghana’s failed revenge mission against Uruguay however came to a delightful end as a late South Korean goal ensured the Uruguayans and the Black Stars were eliminated from the World Cup.

Ayew left disappointed after penalty miss

Meanwhile, Andre Ayew has acknowledged that his missed penalty kick in Friday's 2-0 World Cup loss to Uruguay left him feeling let down, Goal reports.

The Black Stars best opportunity in the first half came in the 21st minute when Mohammed Kudus was fouled inside the box and the referee awarded a penalty.

The 32-year-old Ayew stepped up to take the kick but his weak effort could not beat Sergio Rochet as he saw his spot-kick well-saved by the goalkeeper.

Ayew’s penalty miss is no fluke

Earlier, Sports Brief reported scoring from the penalty spot has always proven to be a tough nut to crack for the West African.

It has been the reason why the West African nation have remained trophyless since 1982.

To add insult to injury, the penalty anathema struck 12 years ago when Asamoah Gyan missed from the spot which denied Ghana and the African continent a chance of breaking the semifinal glass ceiling at the World Cup.
