A video of Messia and his team celebrating was spotted on social media and went viral. In the video, Messi was seen stepping on a Mexican jersey, and Canelo was livid, according to the Mirror.

He launched a scathing attack on the Argentina captain, saying he disrespected Mexico, adding that he hopes Messi prays he doesn't find him. His comments sparked heated discussions on Twitter, with many defending Messi.

Aguero response to Canelo

As the debate raged on Twitter, Canelo and Aguero were engaged in another heated spat. After Aguero came to the defence of Messi, Canelo angrily insulted the Manchester City legend.

Aguero said in a Tweet that he admired the boxer, stressing that his comments on Messi were unscrupulous.

"I admired you Mr. Canelo. But what he did today with Messi was a low blow. And you know better than anyone that this is unfair. Disqualified."

Messi starred for his country as they condemned Mexico to a painful defeat, leaving them with just one point from their two games in Group C.

Mexico need a win against Saudi Arabia and results to go their way to reach the second round, according to Eurosport.

Fabregas defends Messi

Sports Brief earlier reported on Cesc Fabregas defending Messi from Canelo, explaining why his former teammate was not disrespecting his country.

In a Tweet, Fabregas fiercely defended Messi, explaining what really goes on in a normal football dressing room.

"You neither know the person nor do you understand how a locker room works or what happens after a game. All T-shirts, even the ones we wear ourselves, go on the floor and are washed afterwards. And more when you celebrate an important victory."

Messi played with Fabregas at Barcelona and won numerous trophies together and maintains a close friendship with the legendary Argentina players.
