England vs USA: Watch How Maguire Channelled His Inner Messi to Turn Timothy Weah and Dribble Past 2 Defenders

  • Harry Maguire produced an unerring performance in the heart of the defence for England in their second group game against the United States of America
  • Maguire shocked fans who watched the game with his sublime skill when he went past two defenders
  • The 29-year-old Man United star will hope to have a similar, or improved, performance in their final group game against Wales

Harry Maguire stunned football fans monitoring England's second group game tie against the USA by going on a mazy run.

The Manchester United defender was unquestionably the best player in a rather drab performance from England, who went from sublime in their first game against Iran to limp in their most recent outing.

England missed out on a chance to secure qualification to the next stage of the 2022 World Cup after the Three Lions were held by the United States in a goalless draw encounter.

The 29-year-old defender, who has received a lot of stick this season with doubts over his place in the team going into the tournament, has managed to rediscover his mojo at the Mundial.

He provided an assist as England began their World Cup campaign on a flier and equally put in a defensive masterclass in their second group game, as noted by Statman Dave.

However, what is making the rounds on the internet was when Maguire channelled his inner Leo Messi by going on a mazy run.

In a video posted on social media, seen by Sports Brief, Maguire turned Timothy Weah before going past two defenders and getting a cross into the area, which was eventually cleared.

England split points with USA

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that England missed a chance to book their place in the World Cup last 16 as Gareth Southgate's side produced a limp display in their 0-0 draw against the United States on Friday.

Southgate's men would have been guaranteed to advance from Group B with a victory in their second game of the tournament, but they rarely troubled a determined US team.

Having thrashed Iran 6-2 on Monday, England lacked the urgency they showed in their opening game and were booed off at full-time.
