World Cup: Former Man City Forward Leaves Live Coverage After Learning Mother Has Been Killed

World Cup pundit Nadia Nadim had to be taken off match coverage after it emerged that her mother had passed away.

Nadim, a 34-year-old striker, was on punditry duty in the clash involving Tunisia and Denmark and was vibrant as ever at the start of the coverage.

However, hawk-eyed fans noted that the Racing Louisville striker went missing at some point during the coverage, and she has since come out with a heartbreaking reason why she walked off.

"She was a warrior who had fought for every inch of her life. She didn’t give me life once but twice, and everything I/ we are is because of her.

Killed by a digger

As reported in The Sun, police in Denmark has since released a statement confirming that Nadia’s mother Hamida, was killed by a digger.

The 57-year-old was reportedly hit by a wheel digger from behind in the city of Uldum in Denmark after the driver of the heavy machine swerved to avoid an oncoming lorry.

Nadia fled Afghanistan in the year 2000 to seek safer pastures after her Army general dad Rabani was killed by the Taliban.

Since fleeing to Denmark, she has established herself in the country and eventually made it to the national team.

World Cup reported robbed

Sports Brief also earlier reported of a harrowing incident where a World Cup reporter was robbed live on air while covering the global spectacle.

Dominique Metzger had her valuables stolen while on duty covering the 2022 FIFA World Cup which kicked off in Qatar on November 20.

Metzger was out covering the showpiece for Argentine outlet TN and was doing a live link from the Corniche area of Doha when the incident occurred.

Dominique has continued with her duties in the Middle Eastern nation and was present for the opening game between the hosts Qatar and Ecuador on Sunday night, which the latter won 2-0.
