Lameck Banda: Meet the 21-Year-Old 1st Zambian Goalscorer in Serie A History

Lameck Banda on Saturday, 12 November, recorded his name in the history books by becoming the first Zambian goalscorer in the history of the Italian Serie A.

The 21-year-old made history while playing for Lecce away at Sampdoria where he scored in the 83rd minute of his side's 2-0 win.

Apart from scoring, Banda was also impressive for Lecce in the encounter with his attacking ways in the midfield as he also contributed to the first goal scored in the game.

Unfortunately, his performances could not help his national team to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar as Banda and other teammates will have to watch from home.

Lecce's position in Serie A

With 15 games played so far this season in the Serie A, Banda and his teammates are currently occupying 15th position also with 15 points.

Banda has been capped by Zambia at the under-17, under-20 and under-23 levels. He debuted for the senior Zambia national team in a friendly 3–1 win over the Congo on 25 March 2022.

On 4 August 2022, Banda joined promoted Serie A club U.S. Lecce and has featured in all their 15 games this term.

Napoli fans gather outside stadium

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Napoli fans on Saturday evening, 12 November, gathered outside the stadium to take selfies with Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen following his brilliant performance against Udinese.

Osimhen once again proved himself as one of the best strikers in the world by netting the first goal for Napoli in their 3-2 win over the visitors.

The Super Eagles striker has been wonderful so far this season getting the goals for Napoli and he has also won the hearts of the fans.

His performances this term has also made him a target for many European sides who are preparing to make a bid for him when the transfer window opens.
