Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu continued with his impressive performance this season, scoring a brace for Genk in their 3-1 win over Royal Antwerp on Sunday, October 23.

The Super Eagles strongman is now the leading scorer in the Belgian league with 8 goals, and will now be targeting ending the season with the golden boot award.

Playing in front of their fans, Antwerp players started the encounter aggressively, but they were only impressive for five minutes before their opponents took control.

Bryan Heynen scored the first goal for Genk in the 13th minute, connecting perfectly with Onuachu to give the visitors the lead.

When did Paul Onuachu score?

The Nigerian star netted Genk's second goal in the 33rd minute.

However, the hosts pulled one back in the 42nd minute through Vincent Janssen, with Genk taking a 2-1 lead into the dressing room.

Onuachu netted the second of his brace in the 77th minute. The Nigerian and his teammates went on to win the game 3-1, according to the report on GOAL.

With his performances so far this season, Onuachu is expected to be in the Super Eagles squad for next month's ties against Costa Rica and Portugal.

Victor Osimhen battles Leao, Gavi

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported Nigerian international Victor Osimhen has been nominated in a category at the forthcoming Globe Soccer Awards.

The 13th edition of the ceremony will be held on November 17 at the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai, with the World Cup kicking off three days later.

Osimhen is up against Rafael Leao of AC Milan, Federico Valverde of Real Madrid and Gavi from Barcelona, as they go head-to-head for the Power Horse Emerging Player of the Year.

23-year-old Osimhen has been in remarkable form for Italian side Napoli this season. He grabbed two goals after returning from an injury in September.
