  • French club Nice are reportedly frustrated about veteran keeper Kasper Schmeichel's behaviour since he joined them this summer
  • Schmeichel has been accused of going over manager Lucien Favre's head, fitness issues and ignoring the club's punctuality rules
  • The 35-year-old helped Leicester City produce the imaginable in 2016 to win the Premier League

Controversy is brewing at French club OGC Nice after it was revealed that Kasper Schmeichel not only went over the manager's head but also arrived at the club with fitness and punctuality issues.

Schmeichel surprisingly left Leicester City this summer to join Nice after a successful career with the Foxes, where he played a key role in helping them win the Premier League title in 2016.

Schmeichel's tough start in France

According to the Daily Mail, trouble is looming at French club OGC Nice, with the club unimpressed with new goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

The club is concerned that Schmeichel is yet to hit the ground running after reportedly arriving at the club with 'very high body fat'. The Danish international has also been accused of disregarding club rules.

The report also says that he hasn't fully adhered to rules such as squad meeting times and strictly following club rest days policies.

The 35-year-old and his team have also been lambasted for going over Favre's head and straight to owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

It is believed that his team went to ask Sir Ratcliffe to persuade Favre to start Schmeichel in their first game of the season, an objective that was not fulfilled. However, the Dane started Nice's next six games, winning just two of those.

The Premier League winner was replaced by Marcin Bulka this past weekend in their 1-0 defeat to Angers in Ligue 1.

Pochettino holds talks with Nice

Sports Brief earlier reported that former PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino expected talks with Nice about their managerial position earlier this week.

Pochettino is off a title-winning season in PSG and is looking to bounce back in management quickly after being sacked by the French giants a couple of months ago. Current manager Favre is not having the best of times at the club, and reports have emerged that he will be let go soon.
