Barcelona manager, Xavi says he is not surprised by the impressive performances of youngster, Gavi after the 18-year-old impressed in the Catalans 3-0 victory against Sevilla on Saturday, September 3.

The La Masia academy graduate bossed the midfield against the Andalucians as Barcelona continued their impressive start to the 2022/23 La Liga campaign.

Xavi has now hailed Gavi as the heart of the Barcelona squad, extolling the Spanish midfielder’s hard work and discipline as a vital tool for his progress 90MIN reports.

"It doesn’t surprise me, I see him train every day," said the Barca boss. "It’s down to hard work, discipline and heart. He was the best player in the game, because of his intensity, fight, passing, high pressing. He has heart in his legs."

Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Eric Garcia all scored for Barcelona as Xavi’s team won a 4th successive La Liga game to remain unbeaten in the league.

Barcelona defender Eric Garcia allays injury fears

Meanwhile, Eric Garcia has played down the seriousness of the injury he picked up in Blaugrana’s 3-0 victory against Sevilla on Saturday, September 3, Barca Universal reports.

The Barcelona defender had to be taken off ten minutes into the second half with an injury, just five minutes after he had scored the third goal of the game.

Any worries about his condition have been allayed by the former Manchester City center-back, who claims that he is feeling "fine" but just a bit uncomfortable.
