Haaland matches Sergio Aguero's enviable hattrick record

Elsewhere at the Etihad Stadium, Erling Haaland's first-half goal blitz has seen the prolific Norwegian striker write his name in the history books of the Premier League.

The former Borussia Dortmund marksman came under scrutiny after his quiet outing in the Community Shield but swiftly replied to his critics with a brace on his Premier League debut against West Ham United.

And ever since then, the 23-year-old has not looked back, wreaking havoc on opposition defenders and leaving managers startled with his sheer proficiency in front of goal.

Alexander Isak joins Newcastle United for a club-record fee of £60 million

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that mega-rich Newcastle United are ready to splurge the cash on Real Sociedad forward Alexander Isak.

The two clubs are close to agreeing on a fee in the region of £60 million - which would be a club-record transfer for Newcastle and a record sale for Sociedad should the deal suffice, reports Sky Sports.

Following the Saudi-led takeover of the Tyneside club, Newcastle were expected to open a transfer war chest in the summer, however, the Magpies have been relatively quiet with low-profile acquisitions of Matt Target, Sven Botman, Nick Pope and Charlie Mcarthur.
