Werner, who re-signed for Leipzig in the summer from Chelsea, believes that his side has the quality to still ‘annoy’ Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga this season, NDTV reported.

"As we've seen in many leagues it is possible for another team to become champions. I think we have enough quality to annoy Bayern and Dortmund during the season," he said.

He added that Leipzig had a great squad that could achieve a lot this season, especially when it came to challenging for the Bundesliga title.

Leipzig will be hoping to get their season back on track when they travel to take on Union Berlin this weekend.

Both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund won their opening two games, leaving Leipzig with a lot of catching up to do as the season enters its third week.

Earlier Sports Brief reported that Timo Werner is set to return home to Germany permanently.

The Chelsea striker has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge and back to Germany with RB Leipzig.
