Chelsea transfer news

Chelsea and Southampton have agreed a fee for Belgian midfielder Romeo Lavia. The original fee is £53 million, with a further £5 million in add-ons, and Lavia has been granted permission to undertake a medical at Chelsea. The club has also completed the signing of Ecuador international Moises Caicedo.

Chelsea's team kits

The team released their new home kits for sale in July 2022. The kit designs were inspired by Ted Drake, one of the club's former managers. Elements that signified Drake's contribution to the team include the blue button on the shirt and Chelsea's lion logo in turquoise on the white Henley-style collar.

Chelsea's owners

After Russia invaded Ukraine, sanctions imposed on the Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich forced the club's former owner to sell the club. In May 2022, the club released a statement indicating Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital as the preferred bidder. Following the completion of the transfer, Todd Boehly spoke to the media, saying that,

“We are honored to become the new custodians of the club. Our vision as owners is clear: we want to make the fans proud. Our plan of action is to invest in the club for the long term and build on the club's remarkable history of success.
