France and Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin demonstrated a great act of philanthropy when he gifted a Newcastle fan and his son a Rolex watch after helping the Magpies to an opening day win against Nottingham Forest.

The affable Saint-Maximin, who has been the centre of multiple transfer speculations, inspired Newcastle to begin their Premier League campaign on a winning note.

Despite not getting on the scoresheet, the 25-year-old tricky winger lasted 89 minutes in Newcastle's Premier League opener against the newly-promoted side.

But it was after the game, that Saint-Maximin warmed the heart of a Newcastle fan and the wider football community with a touching gesture.

In a video posted on Twitter, seen by Sports Brief, the Frenchman approached a section of the Newcastle supporters who had gathered to catch a glimpse of their stars before they exited St. James' Park.

Saint-Maximin walked towards the fanbase before gifting the visibly shocked Newcastle fan with a well-packaged Rolex watch.

He then followed through to sign an autograph on a French flag with the inscription "10 Saint-Maximin."

He would hope his great gesture will win more hearts and possibly serve as a good omen for a successful season.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Newcastle's fan favourite Allan Saint-Maximin has thrown the club's transfer plans into doubt, with reports intimating that he is considering higher wages from other clubs.

Newcastle had not planned to sell their star player this summer. Despite the wealthy financial takeover at Newcastle, the club still has to conform to Financial Fair Play Rules.
